Dal sito internet del F.C. Copenaghen arriva l'ufficialità della notizia che già circolava da giorni: l'attaccante Andreas Cornelius è stato ceduto all'Atalanta e sarà nerazzurro dalla prossima stagione.

"FC Copenhagen has sold Andreas Cornelius to the Italian Serie A-club Atalanta BC from July 2017. Cornelius rejoined FCK in January 2014 from Cardiff in the Premier League, and this season he has scored 18 goals in 43 games.
- We are satisfied with yet another big sale to one of the major European leagues. Andreas has been a great asset for the club and deserves to get a new chance at the highest level. This sale is an example of our strategy where our players attract attention from the biggest European leagues based on their performances in FCK, says CEO Anders Hørsholt.
- “Corner” has always delivered 100 % for the team and the club. He has fought his way back from a serious injury, and he has been a role model in the squad with his dedication to work hard every day, no matter if we are training or playing in the Champions League. I’m sure he will continue to do so for the rest of the season, and we are all delighted to see him get this new opportunity, says manager Ståle Solbakken.
- The timing is good with a transfer this summer. Together, we have found a good match in Atalanta, and they have a good plan for me, which was the deciding factor for me. I’m still very happy to be in FC Copenhagen, and I’m very motivated to finish my job here in the rest of the season. "Atalanta BC comunica di aver acquisito dall'F.C. Copenaghen, a titolo definitivo, il calciatore Andreas Cornelius che sarà a disposizione del Club a partire dalla stagione 2017/2018.
Cornelius, nato a Copenaghen il 16 marzo 1993, è considerato uno dei migliori giovani attaccanti del calcio danese degli ultimi anni, è cresciuto nel Copenaghen, dove si è messo in luce a suon di gol e prestazioni importanti, ha debuttato nella Superligaen danese appena diciannovenne e alla sua seconda stagione è stato capace di realizzare 18 gol in campionato dando un contributo determinante alla conquista del titolo e vincendo la classifica dei capocannonieri, ma anche il suo primo gol internazionale in Europa League.
Prestazioni che gli sono valse la chiamata del Cardiff in Premier League. Un'esperienza durata sei mesi, perché a gennaio ha fatto ritorno al Copenaghen con cui ha vinto un altro titolo e ha totalizzato finora 56 reti in 168 presenze tra campionato e coppe. Nel corso di questa stagione è già andato a segno 9 volte in campionato, 2 nei playoff scudetto, 6 in Champions League e una in Europa League, per un totale di 18 gol.
Entrato presto nel giro delle nazionali giovanili danesi, ha indossato le maglie delle varie Under fino alla Nazionale maggiore con cui ha fatto il suo esordio nel settembre 2012 in una gara valida per le qualificazioni Mondiali contro la Repubblica Ceca. Nel gennaio 2013 ha segnato i suoi primi gol con la Nazionale A: una tripletta al Canada nell'amichevole giocata negli Stati Uniti. Sempre contro la Repubblica Ceca due mesi più tardi ha segnato il suo primo gol nelle qualificazioni Mondiali. E ora si sta giocando con la Danimarca la qualificazione al Mondiale in Russia.
